Bishop has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, Master of Science Studies in Behavioral Science, and a Doctorate Degree in Christian Counseling. He is a former Corrections Officer and former Cameron University Postsecondary Academic Advisor.

He is the current President of the Lawton-Fort Sill Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (LIMA), a Board of Directors Member of the One Church One Child of Oklahoma, Chairperson of the Lawton Juneteenth Committee, Chairperson of the Mayor’s Commission on Race Relations, member of the Lawton Public Schools Bond Oversight Committee, lifetime member of the NAACP, member of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce, a Badged Chaplain with Lawton Police Department, a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, and a Board member of the MIGHT Community Development and Resource Center.

He is a recipient of the Cameron Campus Ministries Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Service Award, the Lawton Public Schools Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award, the Lawton Public Schools Friend of Education Award, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Ministerial Service Award, as well as numerous other awards. 

Bishop is the Pastor of the Abundant Life Christian Church, the Executive Director of the Abundant Life Ministries od Lawton, Inc., and the Presiding Bishop of the Abundant Life International Fellowship of Churches, Inc. He is also an Executive Bishop to the Free Gospel Churches and the Good News Holy Convocation Churches. He provides oversight to church leaders as well as ministry teams to convicted felons, soldiers, and senior citizens.

Lady Kathi Dunaway

First Lady Kathi Dunaway is the third daughter of Henry and Jean Brodie of Henderson, North Carolina. She was licensed to teach the gospel at Abundant Life Christian Church, Lawton Oklahoma. She is married to Bishop, Dr. John Dunaway. They have two children, Monica Butler (Andre) with grandchildren Madison, Adonis, Andrew, and Brian Dunaway (Crystal) with grandchildren Marques, Jaxson, Bishop.

First Lady Dunaway is a former student of Saint Paul’s College, has earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Oklahoma State College, was a nationally Certified Advisor for the Council for Professional Recognition, and is a former board member of the Oklahoma School Age Board.

She has a passion and heart to work and make a difference within her community.  She is a Sentinel volunteer at the Lawton Police Department, the President of the Lawton Minister Wives Alliance, a Life-Time Member of the NAACP, and a member of the Mountain Metro Ambucs. She also is a Program Director in Child Care and certifies childcare workers and facilities throughout the state of Oklahoma.   

First Lady Dunaway received The Honorable Order of Saint Barbara Award in 1991 from the United States Army. She demonstrated the highest standard of integrity and moral character by leading military family’s wives whose spouses were deployed.  She displayed an outstanding degree of professional competence and selflessness by putting others needs first during that time.

She stands alongside her husband as they minister and disciple people to spiritual maturity as well as restoring and training ministry leaders. They have established and pastor the Abundant Life Christian Church, oversee the Abundant Life Ministries of Lawton, Inc., and preside over the Abundant Life International Fellowship of Churches, Inc. Faithfulness and commitment are the basis upon which she lives her life.
